Fall at the Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation

This article first appeared in the Rushville Republican on October 4, 2016.

Fall in Rush County can conjure up many things in one’s mind. Cooler temperatures, football, and harvesting come to mind immediately. The Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation has a great way for our local farm families to give a gift that will support the mission and vision of the RMHF. Our Gifts of Grain program allows grain donors to make a difference in the health of our community by designating a determined number of bushels at the grain elevator. The grain is then sold and the present value of the grain is processed into money that is donated to the RMH Foundation.

For cash-based farmers, a significant tax savings can be achieved by donating crops directly to the Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation. A farmer should always consult with his or her professional tax or legal advisors to determine the tax implications prior to making the gift.gifts-of-grain-sign

Your RMH Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit that provides financial support for the community’s healthcare needs through the services at Rush Memorial Hospital. Every monetary gift is acknowledged in writing for your tax purposes. Giving the resources that you have can be a fulfilling way to provide healthcare to the thousands that walk through the doors of Rush Memorial Hospital. The Medical Office Building addition, The RMH Pediatrics Office, the Digital Mammography Suite and machine, and the upcoming RMH Shuttle are just a few of the projects/services that your RMH Foundation, through generous donors, has been able to bring to fruition.

How then do I prepare for my grain donation? Contact the RMH Foundation at (765) 932-7568 and we will walk you through the simple steps to make your donation smooth and easy. Every grain elevator is willing to accept your grain gift for transfer to the RMH Foundation. A brochure spelling out in detail how you can give a gift of grain is available at the volunteer desks at Rush Memorial and at the Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation Office which is located on the corner of 13th and Main Streets in Rushville. And there is one more benefit. When you become a Gifts of Grain donor you will receive a very nice Gifts of Grain Donor sign that can be placed on your property.
